The island of Hawaii…
is best known as the "Big Island" and is the combined size of all the other islands. This island unique in that it hosts 10 of the worlds 14 climate zones. It is this variety that contributes to the unique aroma and flavor of Hawaiian raw honey.
My grandfather began keeping bees in California in the 1940’s selling 5 gallon tins of honey for $5. My father still keeps bees in California selling his honey from a small roadside stand.
I owned a honey company in California before moving to Hawaii in 2012. Hamakua Apiaries now has bee yards spread across the Big Island, producing the best varietal honeys in Hawaii.
All of us at Hamakua Apiaries take pride in how we steward the bees and the way the honey is collected. We choose locations that have nectar flows all year. The means we do not have to supplement the bees nutritional needs. We also take time to mentor other beekeepers, and have help start a number of other beekeepers that follow our quality practices.
When you purchase our honey, you purchase the goodness and quality the bees created for themselves.
